When Rob was diagnosed with Arthritis, it answered so many questions he had about his numerous injuries that had plagued him throughout his career. As his orthopedic doctor used to tell him, "It's not the years on you, it's the mileage." It was sad for Rob to know his career as a mascot would end sooner than planned; but Rob looked to the future and his next chapter in life. Since leaving the Spurs, he has formed a San Antonio Arthritis Foundation Board of Directors in which he serves as the Chair, and is currently training for an Ironman, and to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.
